Mild Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (mHBOT)
Camarillo, Ventura County
Hyper = Increased; Baric = Pressure
Mild Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (mHBOT)is similar to diving underwater with an oxygen mask. That’s why an mHBOT treatment is often referred to as a dive.
Mild Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy is Safe, Effective, and Easy. Mild Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy has been shown to benefit recovery from injury, recover faster from surgery, help alleviate acute and chronic pain, reduce inflammation and improve overall health.
Dr. Ayala has been successfully utilizing Mild Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy for performance and recovery since 2016. Many of our patients report a high success rate of Mild Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy treatments.
Mild Hyperbaric Oxygen therapy is the use of pressure and oxygen to help raise the oxygen saturation in within the body. This happens by the basic law of physics. As per Henry’s law, under hyperbaric conditions, oxygen dissolves easier into the bodies fluids allowing oxygen to access area’s previously inaccessible under normal conditions.
In normal circumstances, we breath 21% oxygen, but in a Mild Hyperbaric Chamber, increased pressure allows oxygen to dissolve and saturate more effectively in the blood system, giving m-HBOT the ability to increase oxygen saturation up to 200% to help alleviate your pain and help with recovery.
Typically, a patient enters the chamber for a 1 hour session. The chamber is pressurized to 1.3 ata. It’s this increased pressure that allows the body’s fluids to absorb more oxygen and get to areas that were previously inaccessible under normal circumstances. This creates a massive therapeutic effect.
Is Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy Safe?
Yes, Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy is Non-Invasive, Non-Pharmaceutical and there are no dangerous side effects reported from Mild Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy. There are a few minor contraindications that are explained prior to your first dive.
How Long Does a Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy Session Last?
Typically, Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy sessions last a minimum of 60 minutes. Pressurizing the chamber takes 5-10 minutes (up to 25 min). At the therapeutic depth, you will receive a timed 60 minutes session (on average), after which we depressurize (for 5-10 minutes). Allow up to 1.5 hours for each Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy treatment session.
How Many HBOT Session Do I need?
The Leading proponents of Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) recommend a minimum of 20 sessions and up to 40 in the initial schedule. We will make recommendations based on your initial exam.
